Job summary

University of Arkansas at Little Rock seeks an Associate Director to run daily operations of the Donaghey Scholars Honors Program and develop long-range planning. You’ll mentor students and collaborate with campus units to address academic and non-academic needs.

Responsibilities include coordinating recruitment, admissions, orientation, advising, and alumni engagement, as well as housing and study abroad guidance, under state and federal guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree required.
  • One year of professional experience in higher education.
  • Experience with honors or other high achieving students preferred.
  • Experience with interdisciplinary education preferred.
  • A terminal graduate degree, such as a PhD or MFA preferred.

  • Teach a one-credit professionalization and final project colloquium.
  • Act as the liaison to the alumni board in event planning and alumni engagement.
  • Oversee students’ final project procedures.
  • Maintain a database on Scholars’ status and progress through the program.
  • Work with Housing to coordinate housing for Scholars living in designated Donagaghey floors of residence halls.
  • Provide guidance and oversight to students regarding study abroad.

Summary of Job Duties:

The Associate Director works with the Director in running the daily operations of the Donaghey Scholars Honors Program and establishing longer-range planning. This involves working closely with students, faculty, alumni, and a range of academic and non‑academic units across campus. In the small community of Donaghey Scholars, the associate director serves as a mentor and resource for the students. Assist students by partnering with other campus units, such as Financial Aid, Housing, and Student Accounts to solve non‑academic issues. Work with Director and units across campus, work in recruitment, admissions, student orientation, and advising. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience

  • Master’s Degree
  • One year of professional experience working in higher education

Preferred Education and/or Experience

  • Experience with honors or other high achieving students
  • Experience with interdisciplinary education
