Job summary

Oliver James Group, in partnership with a leading investment bank, seeks an Associate in its Digital Infrastructure coverage team in New York. This specialist seat focuses on M&A and capital-raising across data centers, fiber, towers, wireless and satellite.

You will work with deal teams on modeling, valuations and client materials, while mentoring analysts. The role demands strong IB experience and a drive to excel in a lean, high-performance environment.

Qualifications

• Direct Investment Banking experience with 2+ years.
• Real M&A transaction experience, including 3-statement, operating and transaction models.
• Digital infrastructure or telecom deal experience preferred or strong candidates from modelling-heavy groups will be considered.
• Undergraduate degree in Business (Accounting or Finance), Mathematics or Economics or a relevant field.
• Series 7, 79 and 63 licenses, or willingness to obtain.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working in a lean, high-performing team.

Responsibilities

• Work on M&A and strategic advisory mandates in deal teams.
• Build complex financial and M&A models and value public and private companies.
• Research clients' financial positions, industry and M&A opportunities.
• Prepare client presentations, proposals and internal underwriting memos.
• Support client negotiations and transaction documentation.

Oliver James is partnering with a leading investment bank to hire an Associate into its Digital Infrastructure coverage team, sitting within the Communications & Media group. The team advises on M&A and capital raising across data centers, fiber, towers, wireless and satellite, and has been winning lead roles on high-profile mandates against bulge bracket competition. This is a specialist sector seat, not a generalist TMT role.

What you'll be doing

• Working within deal teams on M&A and strategic advisory mandates, under the direction of senior bankers
• Building complex financial and M&A models and valuing both public and private companies
• Researching clients' financial positions, industry and market data, and M&A opportunities
• Preparing client presentations, proposals and internal underwriting memos
• Supporting client negotiations and transaction documentation
• Overseeing, training and developing Analysts to ensure accuracy and quality of work

What we're looking for

• Direct Investment Banking experience is essential, with 2+ years of relevant experience
• Real M&A transaction experience, ideally having held the pen on 3-statement, operating and transaction models
• Prior digital infrastructure or telecom deal experience is strongly preferred, though strong candidates from other modelling-heavy coverage groups will be considered
