Job summary

Target is seeking an Associate Designer for swim to support Owned Brand Product Design and Development. You will work under design leadership to drive the design strategy, translate concepts into CAD/hand sketches, and prepare professional presentation boards for meetings with vendors.

The role requires a four-year degree in Design or related field, and 1+ years of experience. Expect onsite work four days per week at our Downtown MN HQ campus with close collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or similar area of study, or equivalent experience.
• 1+ years of design-related experience and a strong portfolio.
• Proficiency with InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Experience using CAD illustration or 2D/3D software.

Responsibilities

• Support Owned Brand Product Design and Development with guidance from design leaders.
• Maintain a diligent, self-directed workload and communicate with internal/external partners.
• Assist with product/trend research, concepts, color, and development of products.
• Prepare product specs and develop trim, print, embellishment, and hardware packages.
• Translate ideas using CAD or hand sketches and create design/technical boards for meetings.
• Collaborate with Technical Design to communicate fit and construction details.

The pay range is $58,100.00 - $104,600.00

As an Associate Designer swim, you will support Owned Brand Product Design and Development with direction from design leaders to achieve overall product design strategy and merchant objectives. You will be expected to maintain a diligent and self-directed approach to workload, and provide accurate and timely communication to internal and external partners. You will support product/trend research, trend concepts, color, and design/development of products. You will also assist the team in preparing product specs, and developing trim, print, embellishment, and hardware packages. In addition, you’ll translate ideas using CAD/hand sketches. This includes completing design/technical sketches and professional presentation boards/materials for meetings, and vendor partners. You will also work closely with the Technical Design department, working together to communicate fit and construction details.

About You

• Four-year degree in Design, Fine Art, or similar area of study, or equivalent experience
• 1+ years of experience
• Computer design system skills including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
• Experience in CAD illustration or 2D/3D software
• Ability to stay aware of Trends and Fashion
• Understanding of textiles, garment construction/fit or raw materials & product production
• Experience assimilating product feedback
• Ability to research and apply market/trend information
• Ability to build strong partnerships in order to successfully work in a team environment
