Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Associate Deep Well Operator to support continuous operation of pumps, conveyors, blowers and other wastewater treatment equipment. The role requires adherence to safety regulations and MD/OSHA guidelines while maintaining accurate records and assisting with equipment maintenance.

You will operate and monitor facilities, capture daily data in Excel, and help train less experienced team members as needed.

• 0 - 2 years of overall relevant work experience.
• Experience working with pumps, valves or other industrial equipment.

• Operates general housekeeping equipment.
• Performs all responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner with adherence to safety regulations.
• Operates and monitors tank farm equipment, including valves and monitors pressures.
• Reports equipment malfunctions promptly and assists with repairs.
• Assists with preventive maintenance documentation and files.
• Operates heavy equipment such as forklift and excavator.
• Prepares and tracks daily records related to landfill hazmat, leachate and related systems.
• Uses Microsoft Excel and other computer-based programs to track and report information.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Associate Deep Well Operator works under general supervision, receives general work instructions, and applies limited judgement in resolving problems. The incumbent's work is semi-routine in nature and incumbent makes decisions within a moderate scope. The Associate Deep Well Operator may aide in training or guiding less experienced team members. The incumbent ensures that pumps, conveyors, blowers, chlorinators, vacuum equipment and other wastewater treatment equipment are operational at all times.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintains work area and other areas in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
• Operates general housekeeping equipment, including but not limited to mower, weed eater and pressure washer.
• Performs all responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring adherence to all safety regulations that govern job performance; ensure ongoing compliance with all applicable federal and state requirements.
• Operates and monitors tank farm equipment, including valves and monitors injection pressures on the wellhead.
• Reports equipment malfunctions promptly and assists with equipment repairs.
• Assists with preventive maintenance documentation and files.
• Performs landfill waste activates as required.
• Helps maintain preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance documentation files.
• Operates heavy equipment such as forklift and excavator.
• Prepares, maintains and tracks daily records relative to landfill hazmat, leachate and other related systems.
• Uses Microsoft Excel and other computer-based programs to accurately track and report information.
• Other non-essential duties as assigned or may be necessary.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Gaining knowledge of the well operations process.
• Ability to read, write and comprehend documents such as (but not limited to) operational, technical, process, safety and quality instructions.
• Understands the dangers of working with or around chemicals and able to read and understand safety data sheets to take the necessary steps required to mitigate dangers.
• Willingness to provide input on working practices to ensure departmental goals are met and exceeded.
• Has confidence to inform colleagues of unsafe working practices or conditions.
• A positive attitude and high level of mental resilience.
• Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules set forth, promotes the Company's safety standards.
• Basic Computer Proficiency.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 0 - 2 Years of overall relevant work experience.
• Experience working with pumps, calves or other industrial equipment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Current 40-hour HAZWOPER Training or ability to pass course upon hire.
