The primary role of the Associate Dean position is to provide support to the academic dean, faculty, and staff in the designated academic school. This position reports to the Dean of Professional and Technical Studies and will directly hire, supervise, and evaluate the part-time faculty housed within the school. The School of Professional Programs houses the following programs/pathways: Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Criminal Justice, Emerging Technology and Advanced Manufacturing (AI, Applied Data Science, Industrial Robotics and Automation, UMS/Drones, Virtual Reality & Game Design), Health Information Management, Information Systems Technology, and Skilled Trades. The Associate Dean will serve as a liaison for the Dean in matters related to student issues and complaints, the coordination of school operations including course scheduling, and will support the larger strategic priorities of the school and the Academic and Student Affairs unit. The Associate Dean will serve as a 12-month administrative faculty member who should have the flexibility to work at our various college locations.
This position is primarily scheduled during daytime hours; however, occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support college events such as New Student Welcome Day, Convocation, and other activities. The position is based primarily at the Middletown Campus but may require travel to the Fauquier Campus, Luray-Page County Center, local high schools, businesses, and other community partner locations as needed.
The preferred start date for this position is January 4, with February 15 being the second start date.
The hiring range for this position is $78,300.00 – 100,000.00 per year. The position is an administrative role and as such is eligible for the benefits package offered by the Commonwealth of Virginia for state agencies and the Virginia Community College System.
