Associate Cybersecurity Operations Center Analyst

Base pay range

$60,000.00/yr - $80,000.00/yr

Associate CSOC Analyst (off-hours) – 100% remote (Charlotte, NC or Clearwater, FL*)

Optomi, in partnership with a leader in the IT, energy and oil & gas sector is seeking an Associate level Cyber Security Operations Center Analyst to help support business operations in the Global Command Center! The Associate Cybersecurity Analyst will have knowledge of security monitoring, common attacks, risk management concepts, etc. The ideal person for this role comes from an infrastructure or IT-related role (at least 1+ years working in IT), has completed their Security+ or related certification, and has completed a security internship/bootcamp OR has a Master's Degree in Cybersecurity. At a minimum, this person must know what’s in the Security+ exam and be able to provide deep explanations on an interview.

After initial training, this person will move to the 3rd shift covering hours outside of normal 8am-5pm M-F on a rotating schedule. Most people are promoted out of the overnight shift within the first year.

*This position is remote but needs someone within a commutable (driving) distance to Charlotte, NC or Clearwater, FL in case of an emergency/zero-day attack.

Key Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years’ working as a Security Analyst, IT Admin, Network admin, Systems Admin, or related role
  • Has recently completed a cybersecurity bootcamp, internship or Masters in Cybersecurity (preferred)
  • Knowledge of threat intel, SIEM technology, threat hunting, DNS attacks, common threats, etc.
  • Keen understanding of networking technologies and protocols
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced environment and learn new technologies
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with peers, vendors, customers, and senior management
  • Passion for Cyber Security and learning
  • Strong knowledge of material in the CompTIA Security+. CySA+ is preferred.

**Please note: This role is fully remote but candidate needs to sit within a commutable distance to Charlotte, NC OR Clearwater, FL in case of an emergency.
