Salary and Benefits

Salary Range: $1,777 – $1,940/month for this part‑time, 3‑day‑a‑week position (0.6 time base).

About the Position

Associate Counselors have completed a master’s degree in counseling, marriage & family therapy, or social work and must be gathering hours of supervised clinical experience toward licensure. Positions are temporary, part‑time (0.6 time‑base) through May 21, 2027, with a possible reappointment and a maximum of 2 years in the role.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Counseling and a clinical supervisor, Associate Counselors provide intake assessments, crisis intervention, and short‑term individual and couples counseling to university students. They collaborate with counseling and medical staff to promote students’ mental and physical health, and may offer group counseling and outreach presentations in partnership with licensed clinical staff.

Required Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of professional counseling theory and practice, and adherence to professional, legal, and ethical standards.
• Master’s degree from an accredited program in counseling, marriage & family therapy, or social work.

Preferred Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience or strong desire to learn about crisis intervention, short‑term therapy, couples therapy, group therapy, and outreach/consultation.
  • Experience or strong desire to work as a clinical generalist with common issue areas such as depression, anxiety, sexual assault, autism spectrum disorders, anger management, sexual disorders, eating disorders, domestic violence, and substance abuse treatment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health records.
  • Strong experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of mental health and medical providers.
  • Experience in a college or university setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese (preferred).
