AlphaSense, Inc. is seeking an Associate Counsel, Employment for a remote role in the United States (East Coast preferred). You will report to Senior Counsel, Employment and partner with People, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product, and Content to support global employment matters.

Ideal candidates have a J.D. with bar admission and 3+ years’ experience advising on employment and labor issues, with strong negotiation and communication skills.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and admission to a state bar.
• 3+ years advising on employment and labor matters, in-house or at a law firm.
• Knowledge of Title VII, ADA, FMLA, EEO, wage/hour, immigration, and related laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal and strategic advice on global employment matters including relations and compliance.
• Manage disputes, complaints, litigation, and investigations related to employment.
• Draft, negotiate and review employment agreements and amendments.
• Advise on AI use in employee relations and hiring processes.
• Help develop people policies and scale the legal function as the company grows.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across time zones.

About the Role:

This role is remote in the United States, with a preference for the East Coast. The Associate Counsel, Employment, will be a trusted legal advisor on employment and labor-related matters, including but not limited to employee relations, recruiting, benefits, people operations, disputes, policies, and other responsibilities. The Associate Counsel, Employment will report to the Senior Counsel, Employment and will partner with all levels and functions of the business, including People, Information Security, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product, and Content, among others, to help AlphaSense achieve its high-growth goals. This role is essential to our growth and will have an immediate impact in our dynamic, fast-paced culture.

Who You Are:

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to, and good standing with a state bar;
• Minimum of 3+ years’ experience advising clients on employment and labor-related matters either in-house or with a nationally recognized law firm (or a combination of the two);
• Knowledge of employment laws and regulations including Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Equal Employment Opportunity laws, wage and hour laws, background check laws, benefits laws, immigration, and other international, federal, state, and local laws;
• Superior business acumen with an unrivaled commitment and deep-seeded need to provide responsive client service to our teams and get things done; approaches responsibilities with a business-friendly and pragmatic mindset while maintaining a commensurate balance of legal risk;
• Energetic, authentic, and friendly with a great sense of humor; capable of displaying strong negotiation skills and the ability to support difficult positions in a firm and patient manner;
• Effective communicator, able to interact with internal and external professionals of all types and backgrounds.

What You’ll Do:

• Provide legal and strategic advice on global employment matters including employee relations, terminations, compliance, background screenings, benefits, immigration, recruiting, compensation, and other related matters;
• Assist in managing employment-related disputes, complaints, litigation, and investigations;
• Draft, negotiate, and review employment related agreements, addenda, and amendments;
• Partner with the People team in the development of AlphaSense's people policies;
• Advise on the use of AI technology in employee relations, recruiting/hiring, and other employment processes;
• Remain informed of the shifting legal landscape of global employment laws, regulations, and industry guidance;
• Help create and enhance playbooks to establish company parameters to scale the legal function as the company grows;
• Work effectively in a dynamic environment across different functional groups and time zones.

For base compensation, we set standard ranges for all roles based on function and level benchmarked against similar stage growth companies and internal comparables. In order to be compliant with local legislation, as well as to provide greater transparency to candidates, we share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience/expertise and may vary from the amounts listed below.

Base Compensation Range

$145,000 - $165,000 USD
