Job description

At Boldt, we build more than complex projects, and we build strong relationships, great teams, and lasting impact.

Negotiate the Deals. Manage the Risk. Help Build What Matters. At Boldt, legal isn't on the sidelines. As our Associate Counsel (Contracts), you'll be a trusted partner helping shape and advance some of the nation's most complex construction projects. You'll lead the drafting, negotiation, and management of construction and commercial agreements while working directly with operations, procurement, risk management, and project teams to solve real business challenges. This is a high-impact role for an attorney who enjoys being close to the work, influencing outcomes, and balancing legal strategy with practical business solutions.

We're looking for a contracts-focused attorney who thrives in a fast-paced environment, embraces innovation, and sees technology and AI as tools to work smarter. At Boldt, you'll have the opportunity to streamline processes, improve contracting workflows, and help drive continuous improvement across the organization. As a 100% employee-owned company, we're built on honesty, fairness, hard work, performance, and a love of construction. The people who succeed here are humble, hungry, smart, reliable, and gritty, and they're passionate about building relationships, solving problems, and leaving a lasting impact on the projects, clients, and communities we serve.

  • Safety First: Everyone home safe every day
  • Career Growth: Real development through mentorship and hands‑on learning
  • High‑Impact Projects: Complex industrial work that matters
  • Lead & Mentor: Learn today, lead tomorrow
  • Rich Culture: What started as a carpentry shop has grown into a multi‑million‑dollar company built on relationships and craftsmanship
  • High Performance: By people, strengthened through AI and technology that enhance collaboration, transparency, and results.

At Boldt, high performance starts with strong relationships. We believe the best projects are delivered by teams that trust each other, communicate openly, and take ownership from the field to the office. Our culture blends accountability with support; where learning, mentorship, and collaboration, power results. You won’t just contribute to projects that matter; you’ll grow alongside people who are investing in your success.

What You Bring
  • J.D. degree from an American Bar Association (ABA) accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 7-10+ years of experience focused primarily on contract drafting and negotiation (preferably in construction, engineering, infrastructure or related commercial environment).
Nice to Have
  • Demonstrated experience managing contracts independently and working directly with business stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with construction contracting concepts such as indemnity, insurance, flow‑down provisions, delay, change management, and risk allocation.
  • Experience using AI‑enabled contract review tools, CLMs, or other legal technology platforms.
  • Interest in legal operations, process design, and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional drafting and negotiation skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Practical, solutions‑oriented judgment with the ability to balance legal risk and business objectives.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, high-volume contracting environment.
  • Innovative, tech‑forward mindset with curiosity and comfort using AI and emerging legal tools.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with non‑legal professionals.
  • Highly organized, responsive, and able to manage competing priorities.
