This role may be remote or based in any AmTrust claims office (subject to space availability). Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide coverage analysis, including addressing bad faith and extra-contractual concerns;
  • Conduct legal research and analysis, offering conclusions and recommendations on coverage issues and claims handling related to bad faith and extra-contractual exposure;
  • Develop and analyze broad claims, underwriting, and litigation data to identify areas for improvement;
  • Present complex issues succinctly to upper management in the Claim, Litigation, and Underwriting Departments;
  • Guide investigations needed to resolve coverage and extra-contractual concerns;
  • Communicate with stakeholders in Underwriting, Regulatory, Audit, and Corporate Legal departments;
  • Inform about jurisdictional nuances;
  • Manage an extra-contractual pending case load;
  • Advise on pending time limit and policy limit demands;
  • Collaborate with outside counsel on proactive litigation and pre-suit strategies;
  • Direct case strategy and budget management;
  • Review and approve pleadings and motions;
  • Assist with deposition preparation and interviews;
  • Support internal investigations related to extra-contractual and bad faith matters;
  • Assist with litigation holds and ESI collections;
  • Communicate with claims management and Litigation Department leadership.
Qualifications
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school;
  • 4+ years of liability coverage experience (in-house or law firm);
  • Understanding of national coverage and bad faith law;
  • Ability to gather information and navigate a large organization independently;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Basic Excel skills.

The salary range for this role is $125,000.00 - $150,000.00, applicable for jobs performed in California. Actual base pay may vary based on education, experience, skills, location, travel, or revenue metrics. This range may be adjusted in the future.
