Job description

An Indian subsidiary of Amazon.com, (a US-based MNC) in the ecommerce business, has an exciting opening for a smart, young candidate for the role of “Associate Corporate Counsel”, with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience to provide legal advisory and contract management support to various businesses of Amazon in India. The position is based in Bangalore and is for a fixed term of 3 years. The ACC will report to a Corporate Counsel / Senior Corporate Counsel based in Bangalore.

The Attorney will partner with the legal team and business operations clients to achieve operational excellence, advise on compliance with local regulations, including secretarial compliance. Responsibilities include end-to-end negotiation and documentation of third-party contracts such as procurement contracts, master service agreements, sales, advertising agreements, and NDAs. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as the role involves direct contact with business owners.

Key job responsibilities

• Providing legal counseling on areas such as intellectual property, digital media, e-commerce, company secretarial, and regulatory compliance.
• Resolving issues in existing commercial relationships and handling pre-litigation disputes.
• Drafting and negotiating contracts ensuring alignment with company policies, legal requirements, and business goals.
• Reviewing program constructs for new and existing business initiatives and developing / refining terms and conditions.
• Reviewing and approving promotional materials across print and digital media to ensure compliance with Amazon standards.
• Analyzing and assessing business processes, drafting scopes of contracts, and functioning autonomously while maintaining effective communication.
• Applying strong legal and business judgment.
• Exhibiting excellent communication skills in English and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration across management levels.
• LL.B. from a recognized university in India and Associate Member (ACS) of the Institute of Company Secretaries India (ICSI) with a valid membership.
• 3+ years of experience as a practicing lawyer or in-house counsel, with responsibilities including client advisory, reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
