This position is ideal for an attorney early in their in‑house career who is eager to learn how a mission‑driven climate business operates.

The Associate Attorney will report to the General Counsel and work closely with senior members of the legal team, gaining practical experience across innovative environmental transactions as well as the core legal functions that support a growing global company.

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:
  • Legal advice and drafting support on commercial transactions for the development and sale of low carbon fuels, carbon credits, and other environmental attributes—many of which involve first‑of‑their‑kind structures in rapidly evolving environmental markets. The Associate Attorney will have support from experienced team members with increasing primary responsibility over time.
  • Day‑to‑day legal support of finance and accounting teams, offering exposure to how legal, finance and commercial functions intersect in a growing climate business.
  • In‑house legal advisor on information technology and data security matters, working with internal stakeholders and outside counsel as appropriate.
  • Support subsidiary governance and company policy oversight, including global compliance programs.
  • Legal analysis and support of occasional claims and disputes, with outside counsel support as needed.
  • Support legal team across all phases of periodic strategic transactions from NDAs to negotiation and drafting to regulatory review and closing.
Required Education, Experience and Certification:
  • Licensed to practice law in the U.S.
  • 3-7 years of experience including corporate and transactional work. Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts. In‑house experience a plus.
  • Energy/environmental experience such as low carbon fuels, environmental products, carbon credits, sustainability, etc.
  • Strong commercial orientation and business understanding.
  • Sound judgment, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to learn across unfamiliar legal and business areas.
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills and problem‑solving capabilities to facilitate commercial collaboration to achieve business outcomes and manage risk.
  • Ability to succinctly grasp and explain complex concepts.
  • Experience with supporting corporate processes and controls, including international compliance and entity management, a plus.
  • Ability to develop strong, positive, and constructive relationships.

This role is well‑suited for an attorney who wants to build an in‑house career at the intersection of law, climate, and business—and who is energized by helping scale real‑world solutions to decarbonization. What you will gain as Associate Attorney at Anew Climate:

  • Hands‑on exposure to innovative climate and environmental market transactions
  • Direct mentorship from the General Counsel and senior in‑house attorneys
  • Opportunity to see how legal work enables climate impact at commercial scale
  • A balanced role combining cutting‑edge deal work with the fundamentals of running a global company
