Job summary

Sanford Health in Hillsboro, OR is seeking an evening kitchen assistant to support the cook with production and patient/resident meals. The role covers cafeteria, vending and special functions, with focus on modified diets and timely service.

You will perform food prep, maintain safety standards, and assist with room service, salads, and cafeteria tasks. This part-time position requires reliability and the ability to stand for long periods. Shift: 4:30–8:30 pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions.
• Ability to perform basic math.
• Minimum of six months of applicable experience preferred.
• On-the-job training will be provided.

Responsibilities

• Assists cook with production and service for patients and cafeteria.
• Prepares and assembles food items to quality standards.
• Maintains hand washing and infection control practices.
• May carry out floor stocking and weigh ingredients.
• May support all central kitchen positions and room service.
• May gather requisitions for carts and deliveries to locations.
• Preps veggie and grab-n-go areas like yogurt and sandwiches.
• Experience in the food industry is preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation processes.
• Stand on feet for most of the day and walk long distances throughout the hospital.

This position is an evening position working two four hour shifts per week. Hours are from 4:30 to 8:30 pm which include working every other weekend and every other holiday.

Utilizes good hand washing and infection control practices in work. Assists cook in storing leftover foods per policy and procedure. Prepares and assembles food items in a timely manner according to quality standards. May carry out floor stocking duties. May support all of the central positions in the kitchen and weigh ingredients. Demonstrates ability to work independently. May assist in making the salads, minding the register in the cafeteria at lunch, provide room service and help put away groceries. May gather requisitions to go into proper carts and be sent to all locations. Preps veggie and grab-n-go areas such as yogurt, sandwiches, etc. Preferably, displays experience working in the food industry. Possesses an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes. Demonstrates ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances throughout the hospital.
