Job description

Overview

As an Associate on the construction management team, your role will include oversight and management of development and construction projects throughout our clients’ portfolios. This includes coordination with partners, consultants, the asset management team, as well as direct client‑facing responsibilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team that is involved in all aspects of the development and construction life cycle.

Responsibilities
  • Support the construction and asset management team with deals involving construction or capital expenditure projects
  • Analyze construction progress while identifying potential risks, opportunities, and concerns
  • Prepare comprehensive cost and design review reporting for development projects
  • Research and analyze market trends with respect to current and anticipated costs of material and labor
  • For debt deals, conduct monthly site visits to ongoing projects and prepare monitoring reports
  • Manage lender draw and pay application processes with client and asset management teams
  • Liaise with operating partners, borrowers, and leading members of the asset management team to ensure business plan execution
  • Consistently assess the value of reengineering a project versus time and scheduling constraints, saving costs without affecting the integrity of the project, and weigh the cost/benefits to the overall project and customer experience
  • Develop institutional knowledge for the firm through case studies and contributing to an internal database of project information
  • Oversee the successful completion of construction projects within our client’s portfolios
  • Participate in the continued growth and improvement of all reporting functions within the construction team
Qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience
  • General contracting, developer, construction management, architectural, or engineering experience preferred; client‑facing experience preferred
  • Experience with the following software/technology:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat or BlueBeam
    • Construction scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6)
    • Construction/project management software (e.g., Procore, CMiC, BuilderTrend/CoConstruct, Smartsheet)
    • Construction technologies such as BIM, AutoCAD, SketchUp, BlueBeam
    • Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), Lean Construction, Push‑Pull Planning
  • Experience with standard general contractor and consultant contract forms
  • Experience with running the bidding/solicitation and vendor selection process
  • Experience navigating the entitlement and planning process
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in construction management, engineering, or architecture
  • PMP or LEED Certification preferred
  • Entrepreneurial individuals who are highly motivated, mature and intelligent, with demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors
  • Job Knowledge & Technical Ability – Understanding and use of general construction terminology and processes; ability to read and analyze construction plans, specifications, schedules, and budgets; knowledgeable in LEED, Fitwel, WELL Standards, and other sustainability practices; knowledge of entitlement and planning processes
  • Initiative & Dependability – Ability to perform responsibilities independently and proactively, solve problems, and improve processes and/or services; self‑directed, takes initiative and responsibility, ensures completion of tasks
  • Communication – Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong listening and interpersonal skills; highly effective at preparing and presenting information
  • Professionalism & Teamwork – Acts with honesty and integrity and maintains confidentiality, adheres to company policies; promotes a collaborative and productive work environment; demonstrates team building, support and respect
  • Local and nationwide travel to assets and client sites required on an as‑needed basis, approximately 2‑4 times per month depending on deal list
