Job summary

Naval Nuclear Laboratory is seeking an entry-level engineer to join our team and contribute to the Navy's critical power systems. You will work on testing, troubleshooting, and advancement of submarine electric plant power and instrumentation and control systems in a one-of-a-kind test environment.

You’ll learn from experienced engineers, gain system-level understanding, and collaborate with shipyard stakeholders while developing ownership to make a real impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical, engineering or science field, or Masters degree in a related field.
• All candidates must be U.S. citizens.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on testing, data collection, and analysis for shipboard power electronic systems
• Support instrumentation and control system compatibility and qualification testing
• Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and system-level issues under guidance from experienced engineers
• Contribute to the development and refinement of data acquisition systems and PLC-based automation
• Help design and implement upgrades to test equipment and facilities
• Work with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate test execution and laboratory operations
• Prepare clear written and verbal documentation to support engineering decisions and stakeholder communication

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field; or Masters degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering or science field.

Pay Range

$63,900.00 - $97,800.00 annually

Salary information provided is a general guideline only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
