Job summary

Alvarez & Marsal Deutschland GmbH is seeking an Associate to join the Compensation & Benefits Tax practice in Summer 2027. You will work with a team advising boards and the C-suite on compensation matters for companies of all sizes.

Eligible students must be enrolled and pursuing MBA/accounting/finance/tax with CPA eligibility planned. Strong communication, analytical skills, and spreadsheet proficiency are essential; US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a related Bachelor's or Master's degree with CPA eligibility plans.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

  • Benchmark compensation and develop reports for executives and Boards.
  • Design long-term incentive awards considering tax and regulatory implications.
  • Assist with mergers and acquisitions including target company calculations.
  • Develop retention and incentive arrangements during restructurings.
  • Draft memos on compensation and benefits issues.
  • Support marketing by writing articles and creating pitch decks.
  • Participate in client meetings with teams.

How you will contribute

Alvarez & Marsal (“A&M”) is currently seeking an Associate to join our Compensation & Benefits Tax consulting practice. Associates work with a team of professionals to advise boards of directors and the C-suite of companies of all sizes on various compensation matters.

Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • Benchmark compensation and develop reports to support the compensation recommendations for C-suite executives and Board of Directors

  • Design long-term incentive awards while considering the tax, accounting, and other regulatory ramifications

  • Work on mergers and acquisitions, including performing complex calculations for target companies and their executives

  • Develop retention and incentive arrangements for companies undergoing a restructuring

  • Research emerging issues and areas, such as tax reform legislation and new SEC requirements, in order to keep our clients up to date on the ever-changing regulatory environment

  • Prepare tax calculations and various analyses/models to help clients make better-informed compensation decisions and comply with the applicable rules and regulations

  • Draft technical memorandums and letters related to compensation & benefits issues

  • Assist with marketing initiatives by writing articles, preparing pitch decks, researching targets, and developing presentations

  • Team with other colleagues and participate in client meetings

Qualifications:
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing the following degrees/majors: Bachelors and/or Master’s in business administration, accounting, finance, taxation or other relevant field

  • Definitive plans for meeting minimum educational requirements for CPA eligibility and licensure in the state of your assigned office location

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to articulate complex information

  • Strong analytical skills

  • High proficiency in spreadsheets

  • Ability to simultaneously work on several projects and effectively manage deadlines

  • High motivation to learn and grow

  • Must be authorized to work in the US without the need for employment-based sponsorship now or in the future. A&M will not sponsor applicants for US work visa status for this role

Compensation Statement

The annual base salary is $80,000, dependent on several variables including but not limited to education, experience, skills, and geography. In addition, A&M offers a discretionary bonus program which is based on a number of factors, including individual and firm performance. Please ask your recruiter for details.

Regular employees working 30 or more hours per week are also entitled to participate in Alvarez &Marsal Holdings’ fringe benefits consisting of healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts,life, AD&D, and disability coverages at rates determined periodically as well as a 401(k)-retirementsavings plan. Provided the eligibility requirements are met, employees will also receive an annual discretionary contribution to their 401(k)-retirement savings plan from Alvarez & Marsal. Additionally,employees are eligible for paid time off including vacation, personal days, seventy-two (72) hours of sicktime (prorated for part time employees), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave.The amount of vacation and personal days available varies based on tenure and role type.
