Job description

Who we are

For over 25 years, Global Relay has set the standard in enterprise information archiving with industry‑leading cloud archiving, surveillance, eDiscovery, and analytics solutions. We securely capture and preserve the communications data of the world’s most highly regulated firms, giving them greater visibility and control over their information and ensuring compliance with stringent regulations.

Though we offer competitive compensation and benefits and all the other perks one would expect from an established company, we are not your typical technology company. Global Relay is a career‑building company. A place for big ideas, new challenges, groundbreaking innovation. It’s a place where you can genuinely make an impact – and be recognized for it.

We believe great businesses thrive on diversity, inclusion, and the contributions of all employees. To that end, we recruit candidates from different backgrounds and foster a work environment that encourages employees to collaborate and learn from each other, completely free of barriers.

Your GRIP

Global Relay is an innovative business, and this extends to its approach in developing highly engaging and informative content services for its prospects, customers, partners, and employees. GRIP, which is an acronym for Global Relay Intelligence & Practice, was launched in early 2023, is a product in its own right and will be a new revenue line in the near future. GRIP functions with a high degree of editorial autonomy, has its own team and identity, and, being fully supported by Global Relay and its founder, is not held back by the usual foundational obstructions that start‑ups have to put in place such as resource, infrastructure, capital and premises. GRIP delivers a modern and practical streamed content service that focuses on informing the C‑suite on essential developments, news, and intelligence to enable them to conduct their roles with speed, confidence and precision. The GRIP founding team has considerable experience in this area and has a strong track‑record in meeting its business objectives.

Your role

With direction from senior GRIP staff you will research and identify key subject matter experts who can become content contributors to our specialist information service and whose content can be incorporated into the service for publication and/or broadcasting. You will commission articles from these sources, and review, qualify and edit their contributions. You will build and nurture relationships with contributors, ensuring a steady stream of content that appeals to, informs and stimulates a professional audience. You will be responsible for the expansion of our content coverage of the US and Canada and the Americas (South America and Caribbean) more generally. You will collaborate directly with a friendly and experienced team based in NYC, Stockholm and London.

This role reports to the Commissioning Editor in London and is based in New York.

Your responsibilities
  • Carry out independent research across the business and financial ecosystem (including healthcare and government sectors)
  • Become an expert and stay on top of key developments and trends
  • Develop leads and contacts, and establish and maintain close relationships
  • Identify key subject matter experts who are willing to become regular contributors to GRIP
  • Represent and promote GRIP as a good place for experts to publish their content
  • Commission content that is timely, informative and insightful
  • Qualify content for its commercial value and ensure it meets our high editorial standards
  • Liaise with the legal team where it is necessary to protect valuable content
  • Support contributors by providing them with reports and statistics
  • Exercise editorial and legal judgement when reviewing submitted content
  • Assist with the creation of podcasts for GRIP on a variety of topics pertinent to a global compliance audience
  • Attend industry events (in‑person or virtually)
  • Represent GRIP and Global Relay as required at internal and external corporate events as well as conferences
About you
  • 3–5 years of commissioning experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline
  • Ability to listen to and build rapport with new contacts and existing contributors
  • Demonstrable ability to commission timely, topical and engaging content for a specialist audience
  • Experience in independently capturing content that differentiates a publication
  • Aptitude for gauging the calibre and value of content
  • Ability to identify and respond to readers’ interests
  • Knowledge and good understanding of the business and financial ecosystem
  • Natural curiosity and desire to keep learning
  • Principled, ethical approach to reporting and pride in one’s work
  • High levels of motivation and energy and attention to detail
  • Tenacity, determination, integrity and resilience
  • Ability to attend the NYC office in person 4 days per week, with some flexibility, as needed
