Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic Associate CNC Operator for a second shift in Batesburg, SC. You will set up, operate, and maintain CNC machinery, inspect parts for quality, and document activities.

The role requires basic CNC experience, strong communication, and ability to work from 4:00pm to 2:30am Monday to Thursday. The position emphasizes safety, 5S discipline, and collaboration with other departments, including assembly and painting.

Qualifications

• 6 months to 1 year of CNC Operator or similar experience.
• Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and SAP Enterprise Software.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints, work orders and other technical documents.
• Set up and operate CNC machines (lathes, mills) and perform autonomous maintenance.
• Load tools, inspect parts for defects and ensure adherence to quality standards.
• Document work activities and follow safety and 5S guidelines.
• Support assembly and painting work as needed and assist other departments.

Job Description

Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Associate CNC Operator who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Batesburg, SC.

Please note: This is a second shift position. Work hours will be from 4:00pm to 2:30am - Monday through Thursday

The Associate CNC Operator is responsible for performing the set-up, autonomous maintenance and operation of CNC machinery utilizing a variety of tools and established Hitachi Rail programs. The Operator will ensure that parts meet or exceed company specifications based on engineering changes and other manufacturing and technical documentation.

Accountabilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and other technical documents
• Set-up and operate CNC machines, to include lathes, milling machines, etc.
• Perform autonomous maintenance on equipment, such as tool and fluid changes
• Visually and manually inspecting parts and workmanship for defects using measuring tools and gauges, ensuring they meet quality standards
• Load and assess tool quality, and assist in troubleshooting machine issues
• Follow the 5S policy, keeping the work area clean and organized
• Inspect work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance, to include HSE critical requirements and great attention to detail
• Support other departments as needed, including assembly work and painting
• Adhere to safety and quality guidelines and company policies

Must have the ability to:

• Obtain Powered Industrial Trucks (e.g. forklift, pallet jack, etc.) Certification
• Follow instructions, communicate effectively and document work activities
• Measure parts and identify defects
• Train Associate level operators
• Lift, stand, walk, and work on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time
• Lift or lower items weighing < 24lbs (10.9kg) and Push or Pull efforts < 42lbs (19kg)
• Work the second shift - 4:00pm to 2:30am Monday through Thursday.

Required skills/experience:

• 6 months - 1 year of CNC Operator or similar experience
• Strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and SAP Enterprise Software

Education:

High school diploma or GED equivalent
