Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) seeks a Cloud Engineer to maintain and enhance DAF CLOUDworks for the AFRL in Rome, NY. This on-site role offers relocation assistance and requires a Secret clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI, plus DoD 8570.01 IAT II certification within 60 days.

Travel up to 10% is possible. Responsibilities include technical support, cloud operations, and implementing new requirements while coordinating with distributed teams.

Relocation & Clearance

Relocation assistance may be available. Clearance required: Secret. Travel: Yes, 10% of the time.

Basic Qualifications

• A high school diploma with 4 years of relevant experience OR a bachelor’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience (Associate Cloud Engineer level 1).
• A high school diploma with 6 years of relevant experience OR a bachelor’s degree with 4 years of relevant experience OR a master’s degree with 0 years of relevant experience (Cloud Engineer level 2).
• An active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a Top‑Secret with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI).
• Ability to obtain IAT Level II certification per DoD 8570.01 such as CASP+ or Security+ within 60 days of start date.
• Familiarity with infrastructure components, including network, storage, Linux/Windows, and IT security concepts.
• Knowledge of cloud‑based technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (Atlassian suite: Jira, Confluence).

Preferred Qualifications

• Expertise with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices.
• CompTIA Security+ certification or equivalent IAT Level II per DoD 8570.01.
• Certified (associate level or above) in at least one major cloud platform: AWS Solutions Architect Associate, Azure Administrator Associate, or Google Cloud Engineer.
• Expertise leveraging Git for code management (ArgoCD, Flux, GitLab).
• Experience administering cloud‑based networking (ACL, Security Groups, WAF).
• Demonstrated experience in cloud adoption, environment prototyping, and data migration.
• Knowledge of account management solutions (RBAC, AWS IAM, Azure AD).

Salary

Primary Level: $69,300.00 – $103,900.00. Secondary Level: $83,400.00 – $125,200.00.
