Your impact

Thriving communities. Healthy cities. A brighter future. What we do is more than building roads and ports, we work every day to make the world better for everyone. Join a company invested in you, your success, and the global community. We are looking for a driven and curious Associate Civil Engineer to support our federal team in a hybrid capacity at our Boston office.

As a key member of our team, you’ll join our collaborative process providing our clients with award-winning planning, engineering, architectural design, construction management, and design-build project delivery. The ideal candidate is one who is passionate about civil site design, as well as Civil Works projects that address our country’s water, resiliency, and disaster recovery challenges through measures such as floodwalls and stormwater pump stations. You’ll have the opportunity to work in a team environment and coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians in and out of your discipline group, as well as with clients and end users in Federal Civilian and Department of Defense (DoD) government agencies. Join us and we will assist in growing your career and exploring all that you can do across our global company, with opportunities to share your knowledge along the way.

Responsibilities
  • Act as lead project engineer for specific tasks within large, complex projects.
  • Act as Engineer of Record on projects scoped specifically within area of expertise and experience.
  • Plan and execute work independently while performing non-routine and complex assignments based on high-level instructions.
  • Work closely with multi-disciplinary design teams and project managers.
  • Research, interpret, and implement regulatory code requirements and design standards.
  • Prepare engineering assessment reports and design documents, including plans, specifications, calculations, and basis of design reports.
  • Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to technicians and less experienced engineers.
  • Analyze sketches, notes and other input material to determine and plan the best approach to develop designs with minimal supervision.
  • Continually develop skills by being proactive in advancing your own workflows, systems, tools, and communication techniques.
  • Occasionally travel to project and client sites for observations, meetings, and presentations.
Here’s what you’ll need
  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in at least one state.
  • At least 8 years of experience with civil site development projects and/or civil works infrastructure projects.
  • Detailed knowledge of civil site and infrastructure design, including site layout, pavements, grading, utilities, drainage, stormwater management and erosion & sediment control. Experience with H&H modeling software is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of architecture and related engineering disciplines.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Familiarity with applicable federal codes and standards, including Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
  • United States Citizenship.
  • Expertise with AutoCAD Civil 3D design software.
  • Experience with Bluebeam software.
