Job description

Homeland Talent Solutions has partnered with our client, a respected community hospital within a nationally recognized health system, to identify an Associate Chief Financial Officer to join its Executive Leadership Team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an accomplished healthcare finance leader who has built a strong foundation in hospital finance and is ready to take the next step toward executive leadership.

Designed as a true leadership development role, the Associate Chief Financial Officer position provides direct mentorship from an experienced Market CFO, increasing executive responsibility, and the opportunity to help shape the financial strategy of a thriving hospital. Unlike many organizations that expect candidates to already have CFO experience, our client is committed to developing the next generation of hospital financial leaders.

As the Associate Chief Financial Officer, you'll work side by side with an experienced Market CFO who is invested in your professional growth while serving as a key member of the hospital's Executive Leadership Team. You'll lead critical finance and accounting operations, collaborate closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, influence strategic planning and organizational decision-making, and take on progressively greater leadership responsibilities as you prepare for future CFO opportunities within a nationally recognized health system. Whether you're currently a Hospital Controller, Director of Finance, Accounting Director, Assistant Controller, or another healthcare finance leader with progressive experience, this role offers a unique opportunity to elevate your career while making a meaningful impact on an organization dedicated to delivering exceptional patient care.

If you've been looking for an organization that is willing to invest in your long-term executive growth, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the hospital's day-to-day accounting and finance operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of all financial activities
  • Oversee the general ledger, month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and preparation of financial statements
  • Drive continuous improvement in financial processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, and long-range financial planning initiatives
  • Monitor financial performance, analyze key operational and financial metrics, and provide actionable insights to support executive decision-making
  • Partner with department leaders to improve financial performance, operational efficiency, and organizational outcomes
  • Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP, healthcare regulations, organizational policies, and financial reporting requirements
  • Support annual audits, cost reports, and other regulatory reporting while ensuring audit readiness
  • Identify financial risks, recommend process improvements, and implement strategies that strengthen financial controls and operational performance
  • Collaborate closely with the Market CFO, Hospital CEO, and Executive Leadership Team to support strategic planning, hospital growth, and organizational initiatives
  • Present financial analyses, recommendations, and performance updates to executive leadership
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth
  • Build strong partnerships across finance, clinical, and operational departments to support exceptional patient care and organizational success
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of progressive finance or accounting leadership experience within an acute care hospital or integrated health system
  • Strong knowledge of hospital accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, reimbursement, internal controls, and healthcare regulatory compliance
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to build, mentor, and develop high-performing teams while partnering effectively with operational and executive leaders
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • CPA, MBA, MHA, or another advanced degree is preferred but not required
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and executive presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial information, solve problems, and make sound strategic decisions in a fast-paced healthcare environment
  • Collaborative leadership style with a commitment to operational excellence and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to relocate to Pasco, Washington, and work onsite
