Job summary

Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis seeks an Associate Chaplain to serve as the spiritual care specialist within the care team. You will assess spiritual needs, provide direct spiritual care, mentor students, and collaborate with SHS volunteers to support patients and families.

The role emphasizes compassionate presence, interprofessional collaboration, and culturally informed care. Weekend on-call rotation and ACPE training are integral to the position.

Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Theology from an approved theological seminary/university or equivalent training.
• Four or more ACPE-accredited CPE units.
• Hospice context requires MN driver’s license and adequate auto insurance; weekend on-call rotation may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct spiritual care for patients and families based on assessments.
• Advocate for patients and families.
• Triage and manage crises in spiritual care.
• Adapt care approaches to developmental level and cultural differences of populations served.
• Demonstrate listening, compassionate presence and clear communication in diverse settings.
• Provide sacraments/rituals/prayers upon patient/family request in alignment with their traditions.
