ARLANXEO has a new career opportunity for an Associate Category Manager – Chemicals at the Pittsburgh Corporate office. This position is not open to full remote work and operates on a hybrid schedule.
The Associate Category Manager - Chemicals position is primarily responsible for all aspects of strategic category management of chemicals and other raw materials for ARLANXEO’s North American production sites and secondarily for select materials for ARLANXEO’s global production sites.
Responsibilities
- Category Management & Sourcing
- Create and implement procurement strategies for chemicals used in NORAM production sites, as well as select chemicals sourced globally
- Share category strategies with procurement management, internal stakeholders, and executive leadership to ensure alignment and secure necessary approvals
- Achieve cost savings and enhance value through effective supplier management, strategic sourcing, and negotiation efforts
- Negotiate contracts covering pricing, service levels, terms, and conditions to support category strategies and achieve objectives
- Conduct industry market analysis to understand current supply conditions, including available suppliers, their capabilities, potential supply risks, and price trends; Use this intelligence to guide strategic sourcing and category decisions effectively
- Keep internal teams updated on key trends and developments in supply markets for chemicals. Explain how these changes impact ARLANXEO's sourcing and procurement strategies
- Identify and address risks within the supplier base and supply chain to minimize potential disruptions
- Develop and implement contingency plans to manage supply chain interruptions and other critical risks effectively
- Track industry trends to anticipate and manage emerging risks, ensuring the company maintains a competitive edge
- Develop and maintain robust relationships with key suppliers to secure competitive purchasing conditions
- Continuously assess and document supplier quality, delivery, cost, and service levels through regular evaluations and audits
- Address supplier issues promptly and promote ongoing improvements in supplier relationships
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, such as Operations, Technology & Sustainability, and Business Management, to ensure that procurement strategies are aligned with the organization's overall objectives
- Act as the primary contact for all category-related procurement inquiries, facilitating effective communication and support for internal stakeholders
- Data Management and Reporting
- Maintain accurate and current documentation of all procurement activities, contracts, and supplier information to facilitate effective management and decision-making
- Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports on category spending, cost savings, and supplier performance for senior management, highlighting key insights and trends
- Maintain updated and forecasted pricing for selected products to support the organization’s financial planning processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Chemistry, Supply Chain, Engineering or a related field.
- Min three years of experience in procurement preferably within category management; experience with chemicals/direct materials strongly preferred
