YMCA of Upper Palmetto (YUP) seeks an Associate Camp Director for Camp Cherokee in Upstate South Carolina. You will develop and manage camp programs, lead human resources, and oversee overall operations to ensure safe, engaging experiences for youth.

You will recruit, train, and supervise seasonal staff; coordinate conference and retreat programs; and ensure compliance with safety and abuse-prevention standards while living on-site as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Four year degree from recognized institution in PRT, Recreation Management, Education or Interpretation.
• Experience in summer resident camping or a related field.
• Current certifications in CPR, First Aid, and AED.
• Passionate about camping and outdoor education.
• Preferred Lifeguard certification and ACCT Certification; high ropes/ challenge course experience.

Responsabilités

• Design, deliver, and evaluate camp programs safely and for diverse camper populations.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate seasonal staff.
• Assist in daily operation of the summer resident camp, including program, camper and staff, food service, and health care.
• Manage YMCA Camp Cherokee’s Conference and Retreat Program.
• Ensure compliance with safety, risk management, and child abuse prevention standards.
• Maintain and update Camp Cherokee’s digital platforms; create newsletters and publish program marketing materials.
• Oversee the Social Media Director position during resident camp season.
• Residence: Associate Camp Director must live on-site in provided housing.
