Job summary

GAI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an Associate Substation CAD Operator to support substation projects. The role involves CAD work on red-lined engineering markups, plotting, PDF creation, and coordinating with engineers under supervision.

You will assist CAD technicians, learn AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical, manage multiple drawings, and communicate with project teams to meet deadlines. An Associate Degree is required and growth opportunities are provided within a collaborative, nationwide firm.

Qualifications

  • Basic 2-D line work and text edits.
  • Plot and create PDF drawings.
  • Perform red-line edits and QA/QC procedures.
  • Assist with general office functions such as printing and folding drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Opening, revising, plotting, and saving of drawing CAD files.
  • Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
  • Knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD package.
  • Assist CAD technicians and CAD operators in the development of their skills as required.
  • Attend project-specific meetings as required.
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Job description

GAI Consultants is seeking an Associate Substation CAD Operator to support Substation projects. This position requires working with engineering and other technical subject matter experts in all aspects of electrical substation and protections & controls design services. The successful candidate will perform CAD work of red-lined engineering markups for various substations and/or protection and control engineering projects as well as project support working under engineering supervision. Job Duties
  • Opening, revising, plotting, and saving of drawing CAD files.
  • Assist in compiling, collating, assembling, and verifying completeness of drawing and project document packages.
  • Knowledge of plot profiles and user profiles in CAD package.
  • Assist CAD technicians and CAD operators in the development of their skills as required.
  • Ability to learn multiple software platforms including, but not limited to, AutoCAD and AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Attend project-specific meetings as required.
  • Must be able to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously and be able to work effectively under the pressure of deadlines and unexpected developments.
  • Ability to work extended hours or after hours when required.
  • Learning and helping to find ways to improve GAI Engineering CAD Standards.
  • Effective communication with the project team
