Job Description

The Associate CAD Designer, Print, Pattern, & Engineered is primarily responsible for contributing to the development of surface designs by organizing, cleaning, and completing repeats for original art while meeting deadlines in the product development calendar. The candidate should be artistically skilled, bring new ideas, and process improvements to the Print Design team, with a focus on assisting leads in the execution of engineered prints.

Assist in cleaning CAD designs, prints, borders, and layouts for each season:

  • Clean and prepare print and pattern artwork under the guidance of the Senior CAD Manager.
  • Rework artwork for technical repeat and pattern placement.
  • Assist with ongoing print cleaning between Kick Off and Plotting.
  • Stay updated on digital tools used in textile design and fashion industry.

Assist in print team operations regarding seasonal artwork:

  • Prepare and save artwork and PTFs for the Surface Execution team.
  • Meet all deadlines related to artwork for prints.
  • Streamline and improve departmental processes.
  • Organize digital files with proper naming conventions for easy reference.
  • Maintain updated files for Fashion Design to CAD seasonally.
  • Maintain seasonal print walls and distribute relevant prints to teams.

Assist with execution of engineered layouts:

  • Bring creativity and new ideas to engineered designs.
  • Create visually exciting borders.
  • Research print trends and contribute artwork layout ideas.
  • Make aesthetic and brand-appropriate artwork suggestions.

Maintain activities in line with the product development calendar, guided by senior management, and be aware of all important dates and deadlines.

Qualifications for the Position

  • Four-year college degree, preferably in print, textile, or fashion design or related field.
  • 2-4 years of CAD design experience, preferably in fashion or retail.
  • Strong fashion sense aligned with the Lilly Pulitzer customer.
  • Artistic and technical skills in developing prints and patterns, including technical repeat.
  • Proficiency in NedGraphics Design and Repeat, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Willingness to learn new CAD applications.
  • Basic PC skills such as Word and Excel.
  • Sense of urgency in a fast-paced fashion environment.
