The Leon Institute (TLI) is seeking a registered, experienced behavioral health clinician at the Imperial Valley Campus, in partnership with NHHA. The role focuses on assessments, crisis intervention, and brief counseling for vulnerable populations in Recuperative Care, with supervision and documentation in electronic health records.

The clinician collaborates with a multidisciplinary team, develops groups, and supports clients across social determinants of health.

Qualifications

This job description may be altered from time to time to meet the changing needs of the company.This is a full-time on-site role for a registered, experienced, pre-licensure behavioral health clinician (Associate Clinical Social Worker [ACSW], Associate Professional Clinical Counselor [APCC], or Associate Marriage and Family Therapist [AMFT]) at the Imperial Valley Campus, operated in partnership with National Healthcare & Housing Advisors (NHHA). This position will require flexibility, innovation, and drive to implement new ideas and programs along with a passion for working with vulnerable populations The clinician will be responsible for conducting assessments, identifying behavioral health needs, and providing direct behavioral health interventions to clients in a Recuperative Care setting. The clinician will be responsible for providing brief counseling (mainly crisis intervention), psychosocial assessments, and mental health/substance use support; developing and implementing skill-building groups, relapse prevention groups, and process groups; maintaining accurate and timely documentation; communicating with and supporting multidisciplinary treatment teams; and being innovative in addressing any other needs identified with the population to support their recovery. The role will involve working closely with vulnerable populations with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct behavioral health support to clients in a Recuperative Care setting.
• Conduct behavioral health assessments, create appropriate treatment plan goals, and provide tailored clinical treatment under the supervision of a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.
• Provide brief solution-focused and evidence-based counseling/psychotherapy, crisis intervention, behavioral health psychoeducation, and mental health/substance use interventions.
• Develop and implement skill-building groups, relapse prevention groups, and process groups, and be innovative in addressing any other needs identified with the population to support their recovery.
• Work closely with vulnerable populations.
• Provide psychoeducation and support to non-clinical staff.
• Attend regular clinical supervision to fulfill the California Behavioral Health Board requirements.
• Document services provided in accordance with requirements.

Qualifications

• A valid and active registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker (ACSW), Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (AMFT), or Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC) issued by the state licensing board (e.g., Board of Behavioral Sciences).
• Master's level degree or higher in social work, marriage and family therapy, psychology, clinical psychology, or counseling psychology from an accredited college or university.
• Experience working with vulnerable populations, especially those experiencing homelessness, severe and persistent mental illness, substance use, co-occurring conditions, and/or co-morbid complex medical conditions.
• Basic understanding of trauma-informed care and mental health risk assessment.
• Interpersonal and crisis de-escalation skills suited for the Recuperative Care setting.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, willingness to learn, and desire to deliver behavioral health care in an integrated setting and support clients across social determinants of health (SDOH) domains.
• Experience with the Recovery Model.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including limited-English-proficient communities and the LGBTQ+ community.
• Passion for supporting vulnerable, disenfranchised populations.
• Ability to maintain accurate clinical notes and documentation in electronic client care systems.
• Willingness to participate in regular individual and/or group supervision with a licensed mental health professional to review cases and accrue hours toward independent licensure.
