Job summary

Kemper Corporation’s Chicago office seeks a data analytics auditor-in-training to support the auditing team. You will perform data testing, prepare documentation, and help evaluate internal controls under guidance.

This hybrid role offers hands-on learning, exposure to risk management, and opportunities to pursue certifications while collaborating with a diverse, professional team.

Position Summary

Supports the Auditing team in executing risk‑based and required assurance engagements. Executes data testing procedures, prepares documentation, and contributes to the evaluation of internal controls while gaining foundational knowledge and experience.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Execute data‑driven testing procedures under the direction and supervision of experienced team members, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
• Ensure quality and accuracy of results and delivery of analytics.
• Evaluate data quality issues and identify potential exceptions or inefficient practices for root causes.
• Propose advice and recommendations for achievable solutions.
• Clearly articulate data testing strategies in terms that are accessible and understandable to audit peers.
• Develop an understanding of internal controls, risk management, and governance practices so that recommendations are aligned with standards.
• Build professional relationships with team members and internal stakeholders.
• Actively engage in learning and development opportunities to build core analytical skills.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration, or similar field.
• Experience using SQL, Python, or other data query languages.
• Previous internship experience (preferred).
• One or more of the following certifications are preferred: CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, CFA, or other certifications related to data.
• Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.

This position is based in our Chicago Corporate office and is a hybrid position with a 65‑day remote‑day bank.
