Associate Attorney (Remote in Greater Pittsburgh Area)

We are seeking an independent, detail-oriented, and proactive attorney who resides in the greater Pittsburgh area and is licensed in PENNSYLVANIA (West Virginia admission a plus!) to join our team at the Law Office of Hilleary D. Nguyen ("HDN Law").

HDN Law is a boutique law firm that focuses on the guardianship, private reimbursement, and Medicaid eligibility needs of skilled nursing and long-term care providers. We primarily handle voluntary liens, collection litigation, estate administration and claims, settlement negotiations, Medicaid appeals, and the appointment of guardians of incapacitated residents.

Prior experience in plaintiff-side collection/business litigation (e.g., breach of contract, fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment, implied contract, etc.) is required. Additional prior experience with estate administration/litigation, Medicaid, and/or guardianships of incapacitated persons is a plus.

Associate attorney will be paid an annual salary and will work from home or their own office environment but must be willing to travel for court appearances.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Independent handling of cases from inception through resolution
  • Drafting of legal documents including pleadings, motions, appeals, agreements, and security instruments
  • Appearances at hearings
  • Substantive communication with courts, administrative offices, financial institutions, and clients

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Graduate of an ABA accredited law school
  • Licensed in Pennsylvania (West Virginia admission a plus)
  • Minimum of 2 years of substantive legal experience in plaintiff-side collection/business litigation (e.g., breach of contract, fiduciary duty, unjust enrichment, implied contract, etc.)
  • Prior experience with estate administration/litigation, Medicaid, and/or guardianships of incapacitated persons not required but preferred
  • Confidence and drive to take initiative and remain accountable for case outcomes from start to finish
  • Persistent, resourceful, and proactive in problem-solving and analysis
  • Positive and candid communication, in both oral and written forms
  • Ability to both work independently and in collaboration with a remote team
  • Discipline and self-motivation to thrive in a home office
  • High level of organization and time management
  • Tech savvy with working knowledge of timekeeping software (Clio preferred)
