Associate Attorney for Registered Funds

Join a prominent AmLaw 50 law firm in Washington, D.C. as an Associate Attorney, specializing in Registered Funds. This position offers the opportunity to provide legal expertise on complex matters involving registered investment companies, navigating the intricacies of the Investment Company Act and the Investment Advisers Act. The role entails advising a diverse client base, ranging from startups to global financial institutions, making significant contributions to the firm’s Financial Services group.

Salary: $260,000.00 - $390,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice on regulatory compliance and complex issues relating to registered investment companies.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of fund documentation, disclosures, and agreements for mutual funds, ETFs, and other financial products.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the firm to ensure legal precision and strategic alignment in handling client engagements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and regulatory changes to proactively manage potential impacts on clients.
  • Guide clients through the structural and operational aspects of fund management and investment compliance.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

  • JD from a top-tier law school with a strong academic record.
  • Active Bar admission in D.C.
  • 3-6 years of experience in registered investment companies.
  • Thorough understanding of the Investment Company Act and Investment Advisers Act.
  • Proven ability to handle complex legal transactions and strategies within a large law firm or corporate setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with ETFs, variable insurance products, and other specialized financial products.
  • Previous roles in large law firms, in-house teams at financial firms, or regulatory agencies preferred.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with a track record of successful client relationships.
