Schouest, Bamdas, Soshea, BenMaier and Eastham is a rapidly growing defense law firm with offices in Houston, TX, New Orleans, LA, Chicago, IL, and Boca Raton, FL.
Responsibilities
- Assist with docket involving Defense Base Act claims by:
- Providing sound legal analysis, drafting petitions, and communicating with clients, Department of Labor, and opposing counsel.
- Review, analyze, and summarize claims documents, including medical records, incident reports, and employment files.
- Complete legal analysis of files to determine likelihood of recovery, recoverable amounts, and identification of additional documentation necessary for recovery.
- Participate in conferences with the Department of Labor to address issues pertinent to the resolution of files.
- Communicate clearly and concisely with clients on issues involving the Defense Base Act and War Hazards Compensation Act.
- Make court appearances as necessary.
- Conduct consultations with potential clients.
- Assist with drafting legal documents.
Qualifications
- Licensed to practice law in the state you wish to work or taking the bar in February.
