Job summary

Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice LLC in St. Louis is seeking an attorney with 3–5 years of experience who is passionate about litigation defense.

Candidates must be licensed in Missouri and Illinois and capable of working independently on complex matters. Duties include managing files through the litigation process, conducting fact investigations, handling discovery, preparing witnesses, depositions, pleadings, motions, and trial support.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of litigation defense experience.
• Licensed in Missouri and Illinois.
• Ability to work independently on complex cases.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Medical Malpractice experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage file throughout the litigation process independently or as part of a team.
• Conduct fact investigations.
• Handle document productions and other discovery tasks.
• Prepare witnesses for deposition.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Prepare pleadings, briefs and motions.
• Review and analyze policies, contracts and other legal documents.
• Court hearing preparation and attendance including oral arguments of motions.
• Trial preparation and attendance including trial team support and direct and cross examination of witnesses.

Baker Sterchi Cowden & Rice LLC, a litigation defense firm with over 200 employees, has an opportunity for an attorney with 3 – 5 years of experience and a strong interest in litigation defense in its St. Louis office.

Candidates must be licensed in Missouri and Illinois, have the ability to work independently on complex cases and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Medical Malpractice experience is preferred.
