Job summary

Banker Lopez Gassler P.A. in Saint Petersburg, FL seeks an Associate Attorney with 1–4 years of Workers’ Compensation experience to join our litigation team. The attorney will manage active civil litigation matters and work closely with senior attorneys and practice leaders.

The ideal candidate will hold a Florida bar license, possess strong research and writing skills, and be able to handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Civil defense experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school is required.
• Active license to practice law in Florida in good standing.
• 1–4 years of Workers' Compensation experience preferred.
• Civil defense background or transferable civil litigation experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage an active civil litigation caseload from inception through resolution.
• Conduct legal research, analysis, and drafting of pleadings, briefs, and discovery.
• Participate in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court appearances.
• Interviews with clients, witnesses, and other parties; assist with trial preparation.

What You’ll Do

As an Associate Attorney, you will manage an active litigation caseload and participate in matters throughout all phases of civil litigation, including:

• Manage assigned civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Conduct legal research, analysis, and case evaluation.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, discovery, and other legal documents.
• Draft and respond to interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admissions, and other discovery.
• Participate in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and court appearances.
• Interview clients, witnesses, and other relevant parties.
• Assist with litigation strategy, case preparation, and trial preparation.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other legal professionals.
• Work closely with Practice Group Leaders, attorneys, and litigation support staff.
• Manage litigation deadlines, case activity, and competing priorities.
• Maintain organized and accurate case files and documentation.
• Provide high-quality legal service while developing strong client and professional relationships.

Experience We’re Looking For

We are particularly interested in attorneys with 1–4 years of Workers Compensation experience.

A civil defense background is preferred, but attorneys with transferable civil litigation experience are encouraged to apply.

What Will Make You Successful

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in Florida and membership in good standing with The Florida Bar.
• 1–2 years of Workers Compensation experience preferred.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral communication skills.
• Ability to manage an active litigation caseload and multiple competing deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Practice Group Leaders and other attorneys.
