Bufkin & Schneider Law, LLC: Is currently a 5 attorney Law firm looking to expand.The firm is civil litigation firm with practice areas including: civil litigation; construction law; contract law; transaction law; estate planning; probate & guardianship law; real estate law; landlord tenant law; and juvenile law.
Essential Duties: The Associate Attorney will be provided with cases and clients and will be expected to manage their own case load. This includes legal analysis on the cases, communication with the clients, advising the clients, and representing the clients both in written and oral advocacy in court and other proceedings. The Associate Attorney will work with other attorneys in the firm as co-counsel on litigation cases and will carry their own case load that they manage.The Associate will have to go to court, litigate their matters, conduct mediations, manage settlements, conduct discovery, drafting contracts, drafting estates, and whatever other legal work the clients may need.

·State Appointed Counsel Approval (must be obtained prior to Associate Attorney start date);
·Self-starter; and
·Confidence to appear in court and litigate matters before both judges and juries.
Physical Requirements: This position will have prolonged periods at a desk working at a computer, with occasional movement throughout the office, attending and moving throughout the courthouse, and litigating in a courtroom.With exhibits and equipment this position will require lifting up to 20 pounds of weight on occasion.
Mentoring: The firm offers hands-on mentoring.The partners will work directly with the associate on cases both in and out of court to help the associate learn new practice areas or new skills.The associate only needs to be interested in learning and willing to step outside of their comfort zone with the support of their mentor.
Compensation & Benefits:We offer a competitive attorney salary variable upon experience.However, the associate generally is paid 50% of their gross monthly billing amounts.Associate Attorney’s are billed out at rates between $200/hour and $400/hour depending on experience and performance.For court appointed work (CAC, RPC, ADC, and OCR) the current hourly billable rate is $105/hour.Any salary compensation would come with a commiserate billable hours requirement.
Other benefits offered include: health insurance, CLEs, Bar registration dues, mentoring, parking, Westlaw access, and malpractice coverage.
Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated Colorado licensed attorney who is looking for a long-term position to do civil litigation and some court appointed legal work.This position may include mandatory billable hours and so the associate must be able to set and meet their billable goals.The associate must be willing to practice new or unfamiliar areas of law (with the support of the partners and the firm) and be willing to learn.
