Kenneth N. Flaxman, P.C. is a small law firm based in Chicago, Illinois, committed to protecting individuals' rights against government abuses. We have extensive experience litigating against entities such as the Cook County Jail and the Chicago Police Department. Our practice areas include civil rights violations, police misconduct, wrongful prosecution, exoneration of the wrongfully convicted, and addressing abuses in jails and prisons. We practice in federal district court, the federal court of appeals, and we file about two cert petitions a year.

The firm is seeking an associate attorney with proven writing and research skills who can handle all aspects of oral and written discovery. The ideal candidate will have a passion for social justice, a strong understanding of federal civil procedure, and experience in drafting and responding to written discovery and conducting depositions.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to the firm's mission of advocating for marginalized communities and ensuring justice within the legal system.

The Law Office of Kenneth N. Flaxman is located at 200 South Michigan Avenue. This is an in-person position.

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

• 2 years of litigation experience preferred, but not required
• Exceptional research, writing, and editing skills;
• Comfortable representing people in detention and in the criminal legal system
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
• Strong interest in our practice areas, which include wrongful conviction cases, police misconduct, and prison and jail abuse litigation

Salary and Benefits:

The budgeted salary for this position is $70,000-$90,000. We offer a competitive salary with guaranteed annual increases to reward continued dedication and growth within the firm.
