Job summary

• Judicial clerkship and law review experience are a plus.

The Position

Bowman Jarashow Law LLC is seeking a full-time Litigation Associate Attorney to join our Annapolis office.

The associate will participate in all phases of litigation, including:

• Counseling clients and evaluating potential disputes;
• Developing litigation strategy;
• Conducting factual investigations and legal research;
• Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive court filings;
• Managing written and document discovery;
• Taking and defending depositions;
• Preparing witnesses and working with expert witnesses;
• Appearing in court and arguing motions;
• Participating in mediations and arbitrations;
• Preparing cases for trial; and
• Participating meaningfully in trials and evidentiary hearings.

This is not a position where an associate will spend years waiting for opportunities to interact with clients, take a deposition, or appear in court. We expect our associates to take ownership of their work and provide them with increasing responsibility as their experience and abilities develop.

At the same time, associates work closely with experienced litigators who are actively involved in their matters and available to provide guidance, feedback, and mentoring.

The successful candidate should have strong analytical skills, excellent legal research and writing abilities, sound judgment, and a willingness to take responsibility for matters. We value lawyers who are self-starters, practical problem-solvers, communicate effectively with clients, and understand that excellent advocacy requires both careful preparation and the ability to think on their feet.
