Job summary

Description

The Associate Assembly Technician is an entry-level manufacturing position responsible for completing routine assembly, inspection, packing, and production support tasks under the direction of the Shift Supervisor. The role follows established work instructions and quality standards while learning to use hand tools, measuring devices, and designated production equipment safely. Training will be provided, and assignments may expand as proficiency is demonstrated.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ASSEMBLY & PRODUCTION OPERATIONS:
  • Complete assigned production tasks, including basic assembly, packing, material handling, and visual inspection, in accordance with training and documented instructions.
  • Perform basic assembly operations on assigned product lines using approved tools and methods.
  • Assist with secondary operations and operate designated equipment, such as saws and drill presses, only after completing required training and receiving authorization.
  • Clean, label, and pack finished products according to established shipping standards.
  • Complete assigned work orders accurately and notify the Assembly Technician Lead or Shift Supervisor of questions, delays, or material concerns.
  • May be asked to obtain certification to operate a forklift.
  • Includes other duties as assigned that are relevant to the role and in support of company needs.
QUALITY & INSPECTION:
  • Perform visual inspections and basic measurements of materials, components, and finished products using established checklists and instructions.
  • Follow established quality requirements and process steps to help ensure components and finished products meet specifications.
  • Identify, separate when directed, and promptly report suspected defects or process deviations to the Assembly Technician Lead or Shift Supervisor.
  • Follow all documented work instructions, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and quality checklists.
INVENTORY & WORKPLACE STANDARDS:
  • Restock assigned materials using the Kanban system and report low supplies.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area in accordance with the 5S program.
  • Report material shortages or discrepancies to the Shift Supervisor or Production Coordinator.
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE:
  • Follow all company safety policies, applicable OSHA requirements, required procedures, and employee guidelines.
  • Participate in required safety training and toolbox talks, and promptly report hazards, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times in designated areas.
  • Support and demonstrate STARC Systems' values and mission.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior production, manufacturing, or assembly experience is not required; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Ability to learn to read and follow work orders, basic assembly drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and standard operating procedures.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to learn to use measuring tools such as tape measures and calipers.
  • Previous experience with hand tools or power tools is helpful but not required.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a collaborative production environment.

SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:

This is a second shift position with hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 to $19.00 per hour.

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at STARC Systems.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance or mechanical aids. The noise level in the production environment is typically moderate to high; hearing protection may be required in designated areas. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This role is performed in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to moving mechanical parts, tools, and materials.
