Associate Architect A/B (Parametric Modeler)

Join us as an Associate Architect A/B (Parametric Modeler) at NYC School Construction Authority (SCA) and contribute to shaping the future of educational environments in NYC.

About the Role

The SCA’s Architecture and Engineering Department develops scope, design, and construction documents for new schools, additions, lease conversions, and renovations across NYC. Our multidisciplinary teams focus on high-quality, sustainable, and resilient public school designs.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Computational Designer to join our innovative design studio. This role involves collaborating with architects, planners, and engineers to develop data-driven, innovative solutions for educational spaces, supporting digital transformation within a public agency setting.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement computational and generative design techniques, exploring emerging technologies.
  2. Build and refine computational models for various projects.
  3. Create internal tools to improve efficiency and quality.
  4. Collaborate with clients and team members to understand project needs and develop strategies.
  5. Stay updated on new technologies, software, and best practices in computational design.
  6. Communicate technical ideas clearly and effectively.
  7. Implement BIM workflows using Revit and Dynamo for automation and data management.
  8. Produce design documents, scope reports, and review construction details.
  9. Assist in preparing design phases from schematic to construction documents.
  10. Monitor project progress through site visits and reports.
  11. Coordinate with various stakeholders, including vendors and government agencies.
  12. Perform related tasks as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related fields; Master’s preferred.
  • Strong skills in Rhino and Grasshopper for parametric modeling.
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or C#.
  • 1-2 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Portfolio demonstrating parametric design work.
  • Excellent communication and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work collaboratively.

Salary Range: Level A: $67,344 - $91,264; Level B: $71,795 - $101,011
