Job summary

White Cap is seeking a junior structural engineer to perform routine engineering tasks using standard techniques and procedures. You will work under supervision, performing calculations, preparing BOMs, and supporting application engineering while visiting job sites.

The role requires a BS/BA in a related field, 0–2 years of experience, and proficiency with AutoCAD. Travel is typically less than 10%, with opportunities to learn across projects and grow within the team.

Job Summary

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

• Performs duties as assigned by Engineer Manager or Senior Application Engineer.
• Performs structural engineering calculations as they relate to the application products.
• Prepares Bills of Material.
• Performs Application Engineering Functions.
• Visits job sites.
• Assist Account Managers in sales efforts.

Nature and Scope

Works in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols. Identifies and resolves readily identifiable, clearly defined problems. Demonstrates skill in data analysis and techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in routine research/data.

Nature of work requires general supervision; exercises judgment. May be paired with a mentor. Work typically involves regular process checks or review of output by a coworker and/or supervisor.

May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel.

Work Environment

Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Certification may be required in some areas. Generally 0-2 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 0-1 year of experience in a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Must be proficient in AutoCAD.
• Experience in reading blueprints.
• Prefer experience in using structural analysis software for simple beam and column elements structure is a plus.
• Prefer experience in structural engineering as it relates to either steel, cast-in-place concrete, precast or tilt construction.
