Job summary

Energy Transfer Partners, L.P. is seeking an Associate Analyst / Analyst - Operations Maintenance Capital FP&A to track financial performance of operations expense, forecast and variance analysis, and to support short- and long-term Maintenance Capital and O&M planning.

Responsibilities include detailed variance analysis, KPI dashboards, cross-functional budgeting with field analysts and project managers, and collaboration with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting; plus preparation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or business.
  • 0–2 years for Associate; 2–5 years for Analyst; 5–8 years for Sr Analyst.

Responsibilities

  • Perform variance analysis of actual results vs plan and KPIs for maintenance capital projects.
  • Identify trends in variances and recommend financial improvements.
  • Work with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with field analysts, ops management and project managers to budget and forecast.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and KPI reports for senior management.
  • Collaborate on cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Develop long-range planning models for future performance.

Associate Analyst / Analyst - Operations Maintenance Capital FP&A

Position Summary:

The Financial Analyst is responsible for tracking financial performance of operations expense, forecasting, and variance analysis. Assists and supports short and long-term Maintenance Capital and O&M expense planning activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed variance analysis of actual financial results versus plan, forecast, and key performance metrics for maintenance capital projects
  • Identify trends in variances and make recommendations for financial improvement and optimization to management
  • Work closely with accounting to ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Coordinate with field analysts, operations management, and project managers to accurately budget and forecast projects and expenses
  • Develop and maintain financial dashboards and key performance indicator (KPI) reports to provide real-time insights to senior management
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements
  • Develop and maintain long-range planning models to forecast future financial performance and support strategic decision-making
  • Appropriately categorize projects as Growth, Maintenance, or Expense in accordance with Energy Transfer’s corporate capitalization guidelines
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual performance management reporting for Joint Ventures
  • Conduct comprehensive financial modeling to support strategic initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, capital investments, and market expansion.
  • Support the company-wide annual planning process and subsequent monthly forecasting process
  • Increase productivity and efficiency by developing automated reports and processes
  • Provide support for earnings releases, 10-K, 10-Q, and other external financial reporting
  • Contribute to overall Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis team goals as needed

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience. Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business preferred
  • Associate Analyst - 0-2 years; Analyst - 2-5 years; Sr Analyst - 5-8 yearsof related work experience
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Must be highly proficient with MS Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly organized with the ability to perform multiple tasks
  • Self-starter with ability to learn quickly
  • Proactively seek out continuous improvementopportunities
  • Take initiative in leading projects and driving results
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • Usually, normal office working conditions.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
  • Occasional overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasional visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment.
