Bitpanda is seeking an Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) Compliance Associate in the United States. You will design AFC dashboards, test controls, and engineer data-driven risk solutions across AML, CTF, and sanctions, collaborating with Product, Tech, and Operations.

Your Mission:

As an Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) Compliance Associate at Bitpanda, you will sit at the intersection of regulatory compliance, data engineering, and operational automation. Rather than handling operational onboarding, your focus will be on building intelligence into our AFC compliance architecture. You will design and maintain AFC compliance dashboards, test and validate the effectiveness of existing controls, and help construct scalable new risk controls. By combining strong data analytics capabilities with modern technology, you will drive process efficiency, automate routine compliance tasks, and strengthen our defense against financial crime across Europe.

What you ll do:

Design, build, and maintain interactive AFC compliance dashboards and monitoring tools (e.g., tracking risk metrics, alert volumes, SLA performance, and regulatory reporting indicators) for stakeholders across Compliance and Senior Leadership. Conduct regular quantitative testing and assessment of existing AFC controls (AML, CTF, sanctions, transaction monitoring) to identify coverage gaps, false-positive trends, and operational bottlenecks. Support the conceptualization and deployment of new, data-driven compliance controls. Identify manual workflows within the AFC team and engineer automated solutions. Drive projects to integrate AI agents, LLM workflows, and low-code automations to streamline compliance investigations, data extraction, and routine decisioning. Query complex financial datasets to extract actionable risk insights, uncover hidden transactional patterns, and conduct root-cause analyses on control failures or suspicious activity trends. Work closely with Product, Tech, Data, and Operations teams to translate regulatory requirements into functional technical specs, ensuring seamless deployment of automated control updates.

Who you are:

Educational Background: Degree (or currently enrolled in an advanced program) in Data Analytics, Business Informatics, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, Law, or a related field—combining analytical mindset with an interest in regulatory risk. Data Analytics & SQL Competence: Hands‑on experience extracting, manipulating, and visualizing structured data. Strong command of SQL (e.g., Snowflake SQL) and experience with dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI, Metabase, or similar) is essential. Process Automation & AI Agents (Great Advantage): Demonstrated experience or strong practical knowledge in process automation (Python scripts, APIs, workflow tools) and building or deploying AI agents / LLM workflows to enhance operational efficiency. Control & AFC Understanding: Familiarity with Anti‑Financial Crime (AML, CTF, Sanctions, Transaction Monitoring) concepts, control testing frameworks, or risk‑scoring mechanics, preferably within banking, fintech, crypto, or payment services under EU/Austrian regulations. Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English. German proficiency is considered a strong plus.
