We are seeking an experienced actuary for an open position on the variable annuity valuation team. This person will help drive the overall success of the team and support the company's critical financial reporting obligations. This highly visible position will interact with various departments and play a key role in analyzing earnings drivers through collaboration with the Finance Department. Responsibilities include performing quarterly Statutory, GAAP, and Tax valuation of variable annuities, focusing about 3 weeks each quarter on these tasks. The remaining time will be dedicated to implementing new products, business process improvements, consolidating valuation models, streamlining processes, and regulatory compliance.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Perform quarterly Statutory, Tax, and GAAP valuations and variance analysis using AXIS software.
  2. Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  3. Review and maintain SOX controls.
  4. Enhance valuation and business planning models.
  5. Assess and communicate impacts of model updates.
  6. Develop automation tools for reporting and analysis.
  7. Collaborate with other departments and team members.
  8. Perform ad hoc management reports and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Valuation experience with AXIS software.
  • Analytical skills and problem-solving experience in the insurance industry.
  • ASA or recent FSA designation (pre-ASA candidates with extensive AXIS experience considered).
  • Strong skills in spreadsheets, SQL coding, and programming.
  • Ability to learn new software and concepts quickly.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of annuity products, especially variable annuities with guaranteed benefits, and related regulations is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits

Salary range: $94,000 to $130,000, depending on location, skills, and experience. Additional incentives are available based on performance.
