The Associate Actuary-Risk role is part of the Corporate Risk Management team, providing mathematical and technical support in insurance risk management, focusing on reinsurance, counterparty, and asset-related risks supporting insurance liabilities. You will work independently and lead projects, collaborating across departments including asset management, asset-liability management, capital, and actuarial teams to analyze and influence risk decisions. This high-profile role involves interaction with executive management and requires leadership skills, as you will manage and develop a team. Reporting to the Senior Director of Financial Risk, your responsibilities include:

  1. Leadership & Management:
    • Lead and mentor the risk team to ensure project success and professional growth.
    • Promote innovative risk analysis practices and a collaborative environment.
  2. Model Development & Maintenance:
    • Develop and maintain financial, credit, and capital models for reporting and analysis.
    • Conduct statistical analysis of credit and counterparty risk tolerances and develop risk limits.
    • Utilize industry-standard tools for asset and risk analytics, asset evaluation, and counterparty review.
  3. Strategic Evaluation & Support:
    • Create scenario analyses for strategic asset allocations, investments, and reinsurance partners.
    • Prepare and lead financial risk and capital reporting, including ad hoc analyses and external communications.
  4. Cross-functional Communication:
    • Communicate risk findings across departments and external partners.
    • Incorporate AI tools and resources in risk analysis.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years in financial services or insurance, with reinsurance or counterparty experience.
  • Strong quantitative risk management and asset-liability management background.
  • Mathematics expertise with programming skills (SQL, Aladdin, PAM, PowerBI).
  • Ability to articulate risk quantitatively and qualitatively.
  • Excellent relationship-building and communication skills.
  • CFA or similar designation preferred.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
