Job description

Role and Scope of Position:
Under direct supervision and guidance, the Associate Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing financial data for Eversource, providing financial support, and assisting with month-end and year-end matters, compliance, and other financial responsibilities.

Essential Functions:

  1. Assist with the day-to-day operations of the Eversource accounting function.
  2. Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
  3. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  4. Perform accounting control activities including account reconciliations, journal entries, and close-out reviews.
  5. Assist with closing activities, prepare journal entries, review and reconcile general ledger accounts, and analyze variances.
  6. Investigate and resolve outstanding items.
  7. Coordinate financial reports to comply with federal and state regulations, including FERC Form 1, 3Q, and 60, as well as various state commission reports and schedules.
  8. Interpret new regulations and orders related to accounting and assign new FERC accounts according to CFR, Chart of Accounts, and accounting standards.
  9. Maintain the integrity of accounting information and make system adjustments as needed.

Technical Knowledge/Skills/Education/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Strong knowledge of basic accounting theory and practices.
  • Good analytical, oral, and written communication skills.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

Experience:

  • 1-3+ years of related accounting experience, preferably in corporate or public accounting environments.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • None required.

Working Conditions:

  • Availability for emergency storm assignments.
  • Work hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday.
  • Travel between MA/CT/NH may be required.
