Job Summary:

The Associate Accountant is primarily responsible for the accounts payable process as well as preparing journal entries and general tasks related to accounting for accruals, prepaid assets, fixed assets and other areas as needed. This role is also responsible for assisting the Finance department in creating accurate and timely financial records.

This position is required to work in the Rochester office full-time.

Duties and Responsibilities of the job:

• Primarily responsible for processing accounts payable invoices and payments
• Coordinate approval processes of all accounts payable invoices
• Identify invoices that are overdue or have not been received, coordinate with vendors on missing data
• Monthly preparation of journal entries, account analyses, and reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Responsible for the amortization of intangible assets and depreciation of fixed assets
• Responsible for reconciling prepaid and accrual accounts
• Manage vendor files and prepare 1099 forms annually
• Responsible for credit card receipt audit and coding in the general ledger system, including verifying that receipts have been appropriately documented for credit card expenses
• Process employee expense reports
• Assist with tax and financial statement audits, including pulling invoices and data retrieval / organization
• Perform ad hoc analysis of accounting transactions and balance sheet accounts
• Other projects and duties as assigned

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in Accounting or Finance preferred
• A combination of experience and education will be considered

Experience and Training:

• Process improvement experience a plus

Technical Knowledge:

• Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel proficiency (VLookups, Pivot Tables, etc.)
• General knowledge of GAAP reporting
• Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite) a plus
• experience with Concur a plus

Contact with Others:

All levels of management, including C-Level, Business Unit leadership and team members of the Finance & Accounting department

Work Environment:

Must be comfortable working with financial and accounting systems in a standard office environment.

The salary range for this position is $45,000-$65,000 annually.
