Job summary

TechnipFMC plc in Davis, CA is seeking an experienced Buyer to procure materials, manage supplier performance, and support new product development. You will issue P.O.s per demand, follow up on open orders, and resolve issues to ensure on-time delivery and competitive pricing.

The role requires strong ERP/MRP experience, collaboration withEngineering, and the ability to drive cost reductions while maintaining quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, engineering or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of purchasing or planning experience.
  • Five+ years of experience with an ERP/MRP or equivalent system.
  • Experience reducing parts and inventory costs while maintaining on-time delivery.
  • Experience with multiple commodity groups such as Machined Parts, Hydraulic Motors & Controls, Electronic parts.

Responsibilities

  • Solicit bid pricing from suppliers to meet cost targets.
  • Evaluate suppliers for quality, on-time delivery, and cost; develop improvement plans.
  • Update ERP data: promise dates, pricing, and lead times.
  • Create commodity strategies to meet specifications and future needs.
  • Negotiate commercial terms and manage purchase requisitions.
  • Collaborate with Engineering on new product development and tech requirements.
  • Conduct supplier scorecard meetings and quarterly business reviews.
  • Expedite, delay, or cancel purchase orders as needed; communicate status across departments.

Job Purpose

Hiring an experienced Buyer to join the Schilling Robotics team in Davis, CA! This role is responsible for the procurement of materials to achieve the production schedule andsupport new product and supplier development as needed. Main function is to issue P.O. per demand inthe ERP system, follow up on open orders, and resolve quality issues (RTV as needed). Key deliverablesinsure parts meet specifications, meet on-time delivery and competitive pricing. This position will interactwith all Departments within the Company, vendors and Subject Matter Experts to ensure that the SchillingRobotics Supply Chain meets Customer requirement. This position may on occasion support indirect spendcategories in addition to production materials and tools. Building effective supplier relationships is criticalto the success of the business.

Job Description
  • Solicit bid pricing from current and potential new suppliers that would be qualified through the Schillingnew supplier qualification process to achieve cost targets.
  • Evaluates supplier for ability to maintain quality, OTD, and costs and develop plans to address gaps totargets.
  • Perform all required item data updating in the ERP system: promise dates, current tiered pricing etc.
  • Create effective commodity strategies to meet Schilling Product technical specifications and meet thefuture needs as outlined in the Schilling Robotics Technology/Product roadmap.
  • Leverage TechnipFMC resources to implement best practices, pricing and supplier performance.
  • Work hand-in-hand with Engineering teams though-out the New Product Development process toidentify new and emerging technologies to meet the design requirements of Schilling Robotics subseasystems.
  • Facilitate Supplier & Subcontractor/Consultant Agreements with appropriate approvals as needed.
  • Negotiate Commercial Terms
  • Timely execution of Engineering Purchase Requisitions (EPR’s)
  • Provide up to date drawings or red lines to insure product meets current design intent.
  • Follow up with suppliers on open orders, past due deliveries, receiving issues and accounts payable problems.
  • Conducts supplier scorecard meetings, site visits, and quarterly business reviews as appropriate.
  • Work all ERP action reports and coordinate with the supplier as needed to expedite, delay or cancel purchase orders.
  • Communicate status of material as requested by other departments.
  • Work with Operations team to improve on Standard Work Processes.
  • Working familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Identifying and mitigating risk within the supply chain to insure business continuity.
You are meant for this job if:
  • Bachelor's degree in business admnistration, engineering or equivalent
  • 3+ years of work experience in purchasing or relevant field (planning).
  • Five or more years of experience with an ERP/MRP or equivalent system.
  • Proven performance in implementing new strategies that will reduce parts and inventory costs withoutsacrificing on-time delivery.
  • Hands-On experience with one or more of the following commodity groups: Machined Parts, Additive
  • Manufacturing, Hydraulic Motors and Controls, Electronic parts and Assemblies, COTS parts.
  • Demonstrated effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated skills as a highly collaborative team member that works well with cross functional groups.
  • Basic understanding of accounting procedures.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word/Excel*/Outlook).
  • Able to work on multiple requirements at the same time.
  • Demonstrated strong proficiency of managing to KPI’s for supply chain.

PREFERRED:

  • Multiple Commodity and $M spend experience
  • APICS and/or CPIM certification.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Process experience
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Ability to understand Product Specifications, familiarity with engineering drawings
  • Familiar with First Article Inspection Procedures and Dock to Stock Procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, listen and speak for long periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity using hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, and lift.
  • Wear steel toe shoes, safety glasses and other personal protective equipment as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Frequent use of PC.
  • Close visual acuity is required to perform activities such a viewing computer screens and reading.
  • Ability to travel via standard commercial means (air, water, train, etc.) * Supplier visits (infrequent).
