Job summary

Books A Million in Baton Rouge is seeking a friendly associate to deliver outstanding customer service, assist with questions and orders, and operate the register.

You’ll help merchandise products, support store upkeep, and contribute to a positive shopping experience for customers daily.

Qualifications

• 16 years of age or older.
• Successful completion of all background screenings.
• Preferred: computer skills and cash register familiarity.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by greeting customers and assisting with questions and purchases.
• Sell products and participate in POS initiatives and loyalty programs.
• Stock and merchandise products on the sales floor per guidelines and timelines.
• Maintain clean, organized areas and reset displays as needed.
• Protect company assets by following loss prevention standards and maintaining integrity.
• Support other departments (receiving, inventory, fixtures, upkeep) as required.

Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the 2 nd & Charles Associate is responsible for providing exceptional customer service to all customers in a friendly and helpful manner. They should be knowledgeable about books and other merchandise in the store, proactively seek to assist customers, and provide an outstanding shopping experience.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Provides customers with the highest level of customer service by greeting each customer, communicating and assisting customers with questions and orders, and efficient cashiering.
• Sales of all products, offer point of sale initiatives including Magazine program, Text 2 Mobile Program, Educator programs, and other company-sponsored programs.
• Delivers and places product on the sales floor in accordance with merchandising guidelines and timelines.
• Recovers the sales floor during each shift, including, but not limited to resetting table and shelf displays, picking up items, shelving books and product, store housekeeping/cleaning tasks as required.
• Protects company assets by adhering to all loss prevention standards and acting with integrity in all transactions.
• Performs other duties as assigned including, but not limited to assisting in other departments, including but not limited to buyback, receiving shipments, small fixture assembly and maintenance, assisting with inventory, and restroom cleanliness.
