Job summary

Illumina is expanding access to genomic technology to realize health equity worldwide. This role focuses on designing and building data systems that integrate lab, operation and research data, and on creating high-performance pipelines to support production-scale work.

With a long track record of leadership and an emphasis on collaboration, the Assoc Principal Bioinformatics Scientist will guide complex projects, mentor teams, and help advance genomic discovery and patient care.

Position Summary

• Designs, models, and develops data management systems that integrate laboratory, operation and research data.
• Designs, builds, improves and maintains high performance and highly scalable data pipelines.
• Overseas transition of data pipelines to production and commercial settings; develops technology choices and practices that support pipeline maturation. Researches
• and assesses the viability of new data management and processing technologies.

Experience/Education

• Typically requires a minimum of 15 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 12 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 8 years of experience; or equivalent experience.

The estimated base salary range for the Assoc Principal Bioinformatics Scientist role based in the United States of America is: $187,400 - $281,000. Should the level or location of the role change during the hiring process, the applicable base pay range may be updated accordingly. The range reflects long‑term growth in the role; therefore, most candidates are hired between the minimum and middle of the range. Placement depends on experience, skills, location, and internal equity. Additionally, all employees are eligible for one of our variable cash programs (bonus or commission) and eligible roles may receive equity as part of the compensation package.
