Position Overview

The Associate Patient Access Representative (APAR) is the first point of contact for visitors, responsible for customer service, patient registration, and financial clearance. Key duties include check-ins, scheduling, payment collection, insurance verification, and ensuring compliance. The APAR facilitates smooth workflows and prepares patients administratively and financially for their visits.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED (Required)
  • 1+ years experience in a healthcare office setting and/or customer service (Preferred)
  • Proficiency in all registration types (inpatient, outpatient, emergency)
  • Timely completion of Admissions, Discharges, and Transfers
  • Ability to monitor patient movements within hospital or clinic
  • Use of EPIC work queue for pre-registration
  • Verification of medical necessity per CMS standards and communication of coverage details
  • Accurate entry of patient demographics, insurance, and financial info
  • Gathering and verification of confidential health and financial data
  • Ensuring completeness of electronic health records (EHR) and making necessary updates
