Responsibilities:
- Under general supervision, evaluate donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures.
- Provide limited emergency medical care to donors and staff, including administering medication or treatments in accordance with licensure or certification.
- Interview donors and perform medical history reviews to determine eligibility for plasma donation.
- Collaborate with the Center Medical Director to address medically related questions and advise staff on donor suitability.
- Review test results to assess ongoing donor suitability and evaluate donor symptoms that may prevent continued donation.
- Notify and counsel donors regarding reactive test results and refer them to community facilities for follow-up and counseling.
- Provide routine care following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and escalate critical medical situations to the Center Physician or local medical providers as needed.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic medical training program.
- If graduated from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, current licensure as a physician or certification as an emergency medical technician is required.
- For NY: current state licensure or certification as an RN, MD, or DO in the state of application or a reciprocal state.
- Minimum of one (1) year relevant experience in a healthcare environment.
- Experience in a plasma or blood collection center or similar regulated environment is preferred.
- Ability to perform and analyze physical assessments, including heart and lung sounds and signs of drug use.
